Bhubaneswar, 24.03: BJD has launched a scathing attack on the BJP government. BJD leaders have stated that the migration of industries to other states is not a matter of pride (Asmita) but rather reflects BJP’s incompetence. Senior leaders Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Sharada Jena said in a press meet that the double engine government was supposed to deliver double benefits, but instead, there has been a double brake on all works.
They further stated that the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Plant has moved from Kendrapara to Andhra Pradesh. On Monday, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the project in the presence of ArcelorMittal. This makes it clear that Mittal has withdrawn from the Kendrapara project and relocated to Andhra Pradesh. The state government had shown dreams of establishing ArcelorMittal’s company in the industry-less district of Kendrapara, promising employment opportunities for the youth. However, all those promises have turned to dust.
Oswal has withdrawn from the Choudwar Textile Mill since February. The Semiconductor project is being relocated to Tamil Nadu. The BJD demanded that the state government and the Industries Minister clarify whether ArcelorMittal’s company will come to Odisha or not. They questioned whether the migration of industries is a matter of pride or incompetence, and whether this is a double engine or a double brake government.
Similarly, projects are being transferred to other states, and the dreams of the youth are withering away. The BJD urged the BJP government to discuss the matter with the Delhi Durbar (Central Government) and resolve this issue. They warned that dark days are ahead for Odisha and demanded an investigation into the reasons behind the project relocations. They questioned whether the double engine government is delivering double development or running in reverse gear.
