Outshining Global Peers Like Trump and Macron: Morning Consult Survey

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again secured his position as the most popular democratic leader globally, according to the latest survey by the prestigious U.S.-based data analytics firm, Morning Consult. The survey highlights PM Modi’s sustained domestic popularity and his burgeoning influence on the international stage.

According to the ‘Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker,’ Prime Minister Modi leads the chart with a stellar 68% approval rating. In stark contrast, several prominent Western leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, trail significantly behind.

The Top Tier Rankings:

  • Narendra Modi (India): 68% (Rank 1)
  • Guy Parmelin (Switzerland): 62% (Rank 2)
  • Lee Jae-myung (South Korea): 62% (Rank 2)
  • Javier Milei (Argentina): 57% (Rank 3 – based on previous data)

The survey reveals a widening gap between PM Modi’s popularity and that of his counterparts in the West. While India’s Prime Minister enjoys a high net approval, many Western heads of state are struggling with low ratings and high disapproval levels.

  • Donald Trump (USA): Despite being a major global figure, Trump secured only a 39% approval rating.
  • Keir Starmer (UK): The British Prime Minister stands at a modest 24%.
  • Emmanuel Macron (France): Macron is among the lowest-rated leaders in this survey, with an approval rating of just 17% and a staggering 75% disapproval rating.

One of the most striking aspects of PM Modi’s rating is his low “disapproval” score. Only 26% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with his leadership, which is remarkably low compared to other world leaders.

This trend of high popularity is consistent with previous reports. For instance, in July 2025 (as per previous data points), the Prime Minister’s approval rating had peaked at 75%, reinforcing his status as a consistently dominant figure in global politics.

The latest rankings are based on data collected between March 2 and March 8. The ‘Morning Consult’ tracker calculates a daily average based on a seven-day moving average of views from adult residents in each surveyed country. The sample sizes vary by country, reflecting a broad spectrum of the adult population’s sentiment regarding their respective leaders’ performance.

The findings of the Morning Consult survey underscore Prime Minister Modi’s unique position in the global political landscape. His ability to maintain such high approval ratings despite global economic and geopolitical challenges reflects a strong mandate at home and an increasing recognition of India’s role as a key player in the international community.
