The Nagpur Cyber Police have registered an FIR against four social media content creators, including prominent YouTuber Manish Kashyap, for allegedly spreading fake, misleading, and defamatory content against Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. The complaint, filed by the BJP’s city social media cell, alleges that the influencers circulated baseless claims regarding the government’s ethanol-blended petrol (E20) policy, falsely asserting that it severely damages vehicles and using abusive language against the minister.
The police invoked several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act to crack down on the orchestrated digital campaign. Gadkari recently addressed the issue, dismissing viral claims—such as E20 containing sugarcane juice that attracts ants—as entirely false, and urged citizens not to believe social media rumors.
