The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially rejected growing media speculation regarding Rohit Sharma’s retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs). Rumours had suggested that the upcoming series-deciding third match against England at Lord’s could be his final appearance in the format. However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that no such discussions have taken place and the veteran opener remains an integral part of India’s future cricket plans.
Despite a recent dip in form during the first two matches of the England series, team management continues to firmly back the captain. Rohit has previously expressed his ambition to continue playing until the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup. The current three-match ODI series is tied at 1-1, and Sunday’s contest will determine the series winner.
