Former Indian cricketer Atul Wasan has commented on the ongoing dispute between India and Bangladesh regarding the upcoming T20 World Cup. He advised the Bangladesh Cricket Board to avoid shifting the match away from India and instead focus on resolving tensions between the two nations. Wasan emphasized that maintaining sports diplomacy could be more beneficial than taking drastic steps regarding match venues.
Meanwhile, BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul has reaffirmed that the board’s decision to host the match in India remains unchanged. He stated that Bangladesh will not alter its stance despite any requests from the ICC, highlighting the board’s firm position on the matter.
The T20 World Cup, jointly organized by India and Sri Lanka, is scheduled to begin on February 7. The tournament is expected to draw major attention, and both boards are keen on ensuring smooth arrangements while balancing diplomatic sensitivities.
