Former IT Secretary Manoj Mishra has appeared before the Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar today as authorities intensify their investigation into the sudden disappearance of two crucial commission inquiry reports from the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The missing files contain sensitive investigative findings regarding the 2008 Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati murder case and the 2016 SUM Hospital fire tragedy. An FIR was registered last month after it was discovered that these specific documents were not returned to the Home Department during the recent transition of government power.
Mishra, who also served as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the former Chief Minister, stated he is fully cooperating with the authorities and has shared all requested information regarding the maintenance and handling of the files. Retired IAS officer Rajesh Verma, who previously served as principal secretary, has also been summoned for questioning in connection with the case. The police are continuing their criminal probe to determine how these vital government records went missing.
