Digapahandi: They had left their homeland to earn a livelihood. They were earning well in another state and regularly sending money back to their families. Their families were living happily. Amidst this happiness, they were scheduled to return home on the 19th of this month. But they will no longer return alive. News has been received that their mortal remains are now being brought back home.
Two workers from the Digapahandi area of Ganjam district have fallen victim to an unfortunate incident in Kerala. Both Odia workers lost their lives while attempting to rescue a goat that had fallen into a well. The deceased have been identified as Narasingha Pradhan and Santosh Badatya from Khariaguda village under Patrapur block of Ganjam district.
According to information received, both workers had been employed at a company in Mallapuram, Kerala for the past three years. On Monday evening, a goat fell into a well near a house close to their workplace. Narasingha and Santosh went down into the well to rescue the goat. Tragically, both of them were electrocuted by the pump installed in the well, resulting in their untimely deaths.
Officials from the local fire department arrived at the scene and retrieved the bodies from the well, only to confirm that both workers had succumbed to the electric shock.
In a cruel twist of fate, both workers had already booked their train tickets for the 19th of this month to return to their native village. The untimely death of these two young men has cast a shadow of grief over Khariaguda village, leaving their families and the entire community in deep mourning.
