The sacred Hera Panchami ritual is being observed with great devotion at the Shree Gundicha Temple in Puri today, marking a significant event in the annual Rath Yatra festival. According to the centuries-old tradition, Goddess Lakshmi, feeling left behind and upset that Lord Jagannath went on his annual sojourn without her, visits the Gundicha Temple on the fifth day. In a symbolic display of her divine anger, servitors representing the Goddess break a small piece of wood from the Nandighosha chariot before she secretly returns to the main Shree Jagannath Temple.
Meanwhile, inside the Gundicha Temple, the auspicious Adapa Mandap Darshan continues to draw thousands of devotees. Following the completion of the Banakalagi and other special rituals last night, devotees are now freely gathering at the Janmabedi to seek the blessings of the Holy Trinity. Authorities have made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth crowd movement as devotees eagerly partake in the highly sought-after Adapa Abadha (Mahaprasad), a profound spiritual experience during the deities’ week-long stay at their aunt’s house.
